Here is the breakdown for the week of December 26, 2025: The Inshore Report • Sheepshead: This is the star of the show right now. As the water cools, "convicts" are moving onto dock pilings, bridge footings (especially the Matlacha Bridge), and oyster bars. Use small pieces of fresh shrimp or fiddler crabs on a #1 or 1/0 circle hook. • Redfish: Look for "tailers" on the shallow flats during the low afternoon tides. With negative tides predicted around midday, focus on the edges of deep-water creeks and mangrove shorelines. • Trout: Seatrout are scattered across the 3- to 5-foot grassy flats. Drifting with a popping cork and live shrimp or slow-working a soft plastic paddle tail is the most consistent way to find them. • Snook: Most snook have retreated into the warmer backcountry canals and up the Caloosahatchee River. They are a bit lethargic due to the temp drop, so slow down your presentation.

🎣 Cape Coral & Matlacha Fishing Report – This Week Fishing in Cape Coral and Matlacha has been strong this week with solid action across the inshore waters, especially during the moving tides. Snook continue to be a top target. Fish are holding tight to mangrove shorelines, docks, and creek mouths, particularly early in the morning and again late afternoon. Live pilchards and whitebait have been producing the best results, while artificial anglers are finding success with soft plastic paddletails and jerk shads worked slowly along structure. Redfish have been cruising the flats and potholes around Matlacha Pass. Look for schools pushing water during lower tides. Gold spoons, soft plastics, and live shrimp fished under a popping cork have all been effective. Patience and quiet approaches are key right now. Seatrout action has been steady, with good numbers coming from grass flats in 3–5 feet of water. Trout are responding well to live shrimp, as well as soft plastics bounced along the bottom during moving water. Sheepshead are still hanging around structure, docks, and oyster bars. Fiddler crabs and shrimp fished tight to pilings are the go-to baits, especially on slower tide changes. 🔑 This Week’s Tips: Focus on moving water for the best bite Early mornings and late afternoons are most productive Fish tight to structure for snook and sheepshead Flats and potholes are holding redfish and trout Overall, conditions are lining up for some excellent inshore fishing in Southwest Florida, and the bite should stay consistent.

One for the books today! I took Jim and their crew out for a half-day inshore trip with All 4 Chuck Fishing Charters in Cape Coral, FL. As summer was in full swing, we set out early in the morning to beat the heat and make the most of our time on the water. The day started off clear, but we knew we'd be racing against some afternoon clouds and potential rain. That's just part of the game here in Florida during August. With our gear rigged and ready, we hit some of my favorite spots around Cape Coral. We mixed it up with a variety of techniques to see what would work best. Live bait fishing proved effective, especially as we worked the shallows. Sight casting was a blast - there's nothing quite like spotting your target and making that perfect cast. We also did some trolling, covering more water and giving us a shot at different species. Our persistence paid off as we managed to hook into some nice Bluefish and Florida Pompano. These fish put up a great fight and made for some exciting action on our lines. As the afternoon rolled in, so did the clouds, but that didn't dampen our spirits one bit. We wrapped up the trip with smiles all around, even as a few raindrops started to fall. The weather was shaping up to be a perfect day for our 3/4 Day Inshore Trip with All 4 Chuck Fishing Charters. Partly cloudy skies and comfortable temperatures made for a comfortable ride out to our fishing spot in Bokeelia. This time of year, the Snook bite has been on fire, so we were excited to see what the day had in store. As soon as we started working the inshore flats with our heavy and light tackle setups, the action picked up quickly. The Snook were aggressively hitting our lures and live baits, putting up some awesome fights. We landed several nice Snook, including a few real bruisers that had the customers reeling and hollering. In between the Snook bites, we also managed to boat a couple solid Black Drum, adding some variety to the mix. The trouble we encountered with dolphins eating your catch while fishing in the Cayo Casta area. Dolphins are highly intelligent and curious creatures that are attracted to fishing activities and fish in the water. While frustrating, it's important to remember that dolphins are protected marine mammals and pursue fish’s natural behavior. To mitigate this issue and increase your chances of successfully landing your catch, here are a few suggestions: 1. Change fishing location: Dolphins are known to frequent certain areas, so try moving to a different spot where their presence may be less common. 2. Use deterrent devices: Commercial deterrent devices are available, such as underwater noisemakers or electronic repellents, that emit sounds dolphins find unpleasant. These devices may help deter them from approaching your fishing area. 3. Stay vigilant: Keep a close eye on your fishing lines and immediately reel them in as soon as you notice dolphins approaching. Minimizing the time your catch spends in the water can reduce the chances of dolphins intercepting it. It's important to note that dolphins are protected species, and it is illegal to harm or harass them. While it can be challenging to fish in areas with high dolphin activity, respecting and coexisting with these beautiful creatures is essential. Enjoying nature's wonders while minimizing any negative impact is the best approach.
